A WALK IN THE WIND

I love two things about this outfit: a) this black vest that is very versatile and flatters my body and b) this pair of shorts that I made myself from an old pair of jeans.
See tutorial on how to make your own chic denim shorts
These photos were taken over the weekend when  I had gone for a walk along the northern bypass and it was kind of windy. I loved the feel of the wind blowing my hair all over :)

Have a lovely week everyone, take advantage of every opportunity that comes your way, smile more and maybe wear something that you wouldn't normally wear.

HAREM PANTS

I don't own any harem pants and quite frankly I'm not in a hurry to buy any.
I like the harem shorts in the first picture especially because of the cute bow detail.
The harem pants in the second picture look a little too fugly for my taste. Maybe I'd wear the third ones and shock the hell out of everybody..
When I saw this last pair I immediately thought gypsy, something about the color and the flowy see through material.
Anyway for my work wardrobe I have been toying with the idea of getting myself some black harem pants (the kind that Tyra Banks wears in cycle 13 of America's next top model) and pairing that with a  ruffled blouse, what do you guys think of my idea??

HOW TO TURN A PAIR OF JEANS INTO CHIC SHORTS

Do you have a pair of jeans lying around that you hardly wear and probably forgot about? Go fish it out, It's time to turn it into something you will want to wear. I have a new project for you.

Fun Fashion D.I.Y. project #3- Cropped jeans.

You will need:

  • A pair of jeans
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread
  • Two buttons

Step 1
Measure the length from your waist to your knees or wherever you want your shorts to reach.
Transfer this measurement to your jeans and add about an inch allowance for hemming. If you want a frayed hemline, skip the hemming and fray out the edges.

Step 2
Cut out 3 pieces from the bottom part of the pants you just cut out. Two squares measuring about 5 inches by 5 inches. Cut the other piece 5 inches by 3 inches.

Step 3
Fray out only two adjacent edges of the square patches.  You can add several slits on the patch. Lay one patch on one leg of your cropped pants, right side up. Make sure the frayed edges point to the waist. Sew across from one corner to the other across the middle of the patch.

Step 4
Bring the upper part down over the lower part to form a triangle pointing downwards.
Secure the tip by sewing on a button. The wrong side of the patch should be showing now. This is mainly to maximize contrast between the pants and patches.
Do the same for the other leg.

Step 5
Take the 5x3 piece, cut it and fray it as shown below. Stitch it on one of the legs in whatever direction you wish. You can add more of these patches if you want.

Eventually you will have something that looks similar to this

Go rock your new awesome cropped jeans.
I’ll be rocking mine pretty soon, pics coming up J J

WHAT TO WEAR TO WORK

Hey precious readers
The new year is here, the holiday is behind us and life must go on.
For those who have to go back to work, or are starting work I have put together a few pointers to guide you in case you are wondering how to spice up your work wardrobe.
Dressing for the work place doesn't mean you have to ditch your personal style and conform to wearing monochrome boxy suits..
Tailored suits

weather you go for a pants suit or skirt suit, make sure it is tastefully tailored to fit your body. Well fitting pants with slim legs and a tapered jacket work well to bring out your femininity.

The piping detail on this skirt suit adds an interesting twist yet it is not too distracting. The color white is a break from the traditional black and navy suits.
The skirt should be fitting but loose enough to comfortably sit in.

Wrap dress
Classic DVF wrap dress.
This dress is perfect for almost any body type. It is great for accentuating the waist. This adds a little sexiness without going overboard.
To accessorise this dress, pair it with a belt. Skinny belts work well for petite frames and larger belts for curvy frames.

Shirt dress

This dress is very chic and adds flair to your office look. For the traditional work place, it is best worn with pumps or peep toe shoes. Strappy sandals are a bit casual for the office

Accessories
Keep your accessories chic and subtle. They should not be too distracting i.e. in bright colors or too glitzy unless your work environment allows it.

Skinny belts to accentuate your waist and add class to your outfit.

Scarves and ties to add color to your office attire.

Adorn your outfit with a simple brooch.

Peep toes for the office.

I hope you found this article helpful. I'd love to hear your feedback. Please leave any comments or questions you may have. :) :).

I found an awesome plaid vintage blazer in my dad's closet today. With his permission I'm taking it to the tailor's tomorrow to have it fitted.
That happenes to be the inspiration behind this post..
I'l be going for industrial internship in Jan and I already know the blazers I'l be shopping for.
